Diaries (1911-1934, 1937-1948, 1951; 47 volumes) of a railway baggageman for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railway Company (the Milwaukee Road); miscellaneous documents (1910-1951), including two undated photographs, an employment certificate (1910), World War I selective service documents, membership cards in the Milwaukee Road Veteran Employees' Association, and a retirement certificate (1951); Milwaukee Road trip passes (1914-1948, 1969-1970) and passes from other railroads (1914-1926); and a letter (1936) from Don Larson at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii Territory, to his mother (Mrs. G. O. Gunderson) on the letterhead of the U.S.S. Arizona telling of his duties on the ship and of a tour of a pineapple factory in the Hawaiian Islands. The collection also includes a Milwaukee Road pass (1969-1970) issued to Gunderson's widow.

George Oscar Gunderson was born November 26, 1883, to John and Inza (Olson) Gunderson in Gay's Mills, Wisconsin. He began working for the Milwaukee Road in 1909, on the route between Minneapolis and South Dakota. Gunderson retired August 30, 1951, and died March 25,1952.
